Hands on Ministry

We embrace these ministries with enthusiasm and generosity, engaging new members, young families, teens, and long-time parishioners in service and fellowship, while also welcoming volunteers from the wider community. Projects are hands-on, varied, and carried out in close partnership with local nonprofits.

  • Each month, parishioners help prepare hot lunches through the soup kitchen at St. Mark’s Episcopal in Keansburg. Our youth make brown bag lunches for the same ministry.

  • “Stuff a Truck” events fill a box truck with food and personal care items for distribution through local nonprofit partners.

  • We assemble Thanksgiving dinner bags for families in need, supporting Lunch Break in Red Bank and St. Mark’s. St. George’s is the largest single contributor to this effort.

  • Seasonal initiatives include preparing backpacks filled with school supplies for children in foster care through CASA, and selecting Christmas gifts for homeless and formerly homeless adults supported by HABcore, as well as those in emergency shelters.

  • Ridge Road Run - We are a major sponsor of a 5K race supporting teen suicide prevention, coordinated with and benefiting three local high schools. We gather for Holy Eucharist at a parish home, then run, walk, or cheer in St. George’s T-shirts.

  • Since March 2025, parishioners have partnered with Interfaith RISE to mentor a Haitian family newly arrived in the U.S., helping with employment, healthcare, home-school communication, transportation, and ongoing practical support.
